Annual Awards Evening
Why not come along to this fun evening, find out what we have been up to and this year hear about a 10 day challenge expedition in Poland completed by Explorer Abi Peett for her Explorer Belt. As it is our 80th birthday we also have a display covering the history of Hayling Scouts for you to view whilst taking light refreshments.

Date: Wednesday 20th May
Time: 19:30 to 21:00 at the HQ

Quote from 2008: I went along to see a special award being presented and had a great evening. I will definitely go along next year.

100 Club 2009
Thank you for those of you who have renewed your membership of the 100 Club or have joined this time round. We are still looking for a few more members and have delayed the first Draw until the end of May. We will complete the April and May draws at that time.

Thank You Ace
I recently attended the Paris to Hayling cycle ride presentation evening and was presented with a cheque for £250 by Paul Fisher. I would like to thank Paul and the ACE committee for once again supporting us in this way. It really is greatly appreciated.

Thank You Sarah & Barclays Bank
All of us involved with Hayling Scouts would like to thank Sarah Sexton and her colleagues at Barclays Bank for choosing us for matched funding with some of our recent activities. Barclays matched the money raised by our Explorers with Bag Packing towards their Kandestag fund for this years expedition to Switzerland and the offered to match the money raised from our Duck Race which is being used for our Birthday Camp in June. In total Barclays supported our Group with over £2300. Thank you so much.

How you can help us
6 years ago we decided that we would look to balance the workload across the group. There are many jobs that need to be done to run a Scout Group of our size and lots of these require just a few hours a year. In the next few days you will be able to see a list of what we currently need on our web site. Please will you look at these and see if you can help us. For each vacancy we have listed what is required and also what commitment in terms of hours effort it needs.

Want to know what your child's section is doing?
Then take a look at the "Section News" on our web site.

Meet Chris Ryan of SAS fame
Chris Ryan formerly of the SAS and part of Bravo 20 will be talking of his escape from Iraq and also of his other experiences during that campaign. Tickets are available from the Hayling Island book shop or the Hayling Community Centre.

80th Birthday Family Camp
Over 250 people have already stated their intent to camp with a further 100 parents and families visiting us on a daily basis. For those of you who have not already returned the form please do so in the next few days as we now need to finalise the activities and quantities.

The activity list includes some traditional Scouting items such as cooking, craft, model making, initiative challenges, archery plus some items we are bringing onto the site such as a climbing tower, human table football, fun runs and other inflatable's. To find out what else - you will have to wait as we want some surprises!

What Happens Next?
In the next 2 weeks you will receive a more detailed information pack which will include the arrangements for our family camp plus forms to be completed and requests for information such special dietary requirements. You will also receive an invoice for the camp.
