100 People attend our Awards and Presentations Evening

Our latest Awards and Presentations evening was another great success with nearly 100 people in attendance. After the formal business, the guests which included the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Vic Pearce-Jones and his wife, representatives of many local organisations, Boroough and County Councillors, parents, friends and supporters were given a presentation by Alan Oakes on what it took to become a Queen's Scout Award holder and particularly on his day at Windsor Castle where he, along with other holders of the award were inspected by Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Alistair Harris and Jorden Reed then gave a presentation on their forthcoming attendance at the World Scout Jamboree this summer.

Each year we also make two special presentations:-

The Fred Rook Trophy, to the person associated with the Hayling Scouts who provides and exception level of communithy service was presented to Barnabas Pycroft, a Patrol Leader with Eagle Troop. Barnabas helps regularly with one of our Cub Packs and is also very active within his local Church and will always be one of the first to volunteer in our community projects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The David Baker Award is presented by Jane and Tony Baker in memory of their Son who was an active member of the group for many years despite suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. This award is presented to the uniformed member of the group who best demonstrates their commitment to the Scout Laws and Promise. This year the award was presented to Jake Whistlecraft a patrol leader from Lion Troop. Jake is a great ambassador for Scouting and is an exceptional role model for the other Scouts in the Troop.
