Chief Scout's Platinum and Diamond Awards

Tim Pike, the District Commissioner for Havant Scouting joined Nexus Explorers to make some very special presentations at the end of their meeting.
Tim presented the Chief Scout's Platinum Award to Kaj Carter and Karl Ward. The Award has also been gained by Harry Hick who unfortunately was unable to be at the meeting and also to Alex Kinsella who completed the award from his new home in Australia.
This awards requires participants to:-
- take up a skill for three months, and show progress and lasting interest. The skill can be an existing interest or something entirely new
- take up a physical activity for three months, completing an agreed programme of taking part and achievement
- provide service to an individual or the community for three months
- complete a two day and one night expedition in rural country by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
- Complete 6 nights camping as an Explorer Scout
- Complete an International Scouting challenge
Tim also presented a Chief Scout's Diamond Award to Victoria Edwards. This award comprises the same 6 elements, each requiring a new skill or activity, or further developing their existing activity by a further 6 months. The expedition is over 4 days and the number of nights must include an additional 12.
On presenting the award, Tim congratulated the Explorers (present and absent!!) on their great achievement and thanked the Leaders and Parents for their help and support.
