Hayling Scouts join in with Founders Day Celebrations

Report Date 24/02/07

Did you know that Baden-Powell (BP) who founded the Scouts in 1907 and Lady Olive Baden-Powell who started the Guides both had the same Birthday on the 22nd February. BP was born in 1857 so this year is not only Scouting's Centenary but also 150 years since the birth of BP.

This year the Scouts and Guides of Havant & Hayling joined together for a special celebration evening. The event was attended by over 500 including the County Commissioners of Scouting & Guiding and started with a short Service of celebration, followed by a classic Camp Fire sing-song after which the younger sections (Beavers, Cubs, Rainbows and Brownies) went home to leave the older sections to enjoy a Disco.

The photographs below show many of those attending gathering during the Service and some of Hayling's Explorers getting everyone involved in the Disco.
