Report Date 01/10/14

The young leader Award is available to any young person aged between 14 and 18 who would like to help Scouting in a Leadership role. They may also be part of our Explorer Unit if they wish.

To complete the award an individual has to complete 11 training modules including First Response, programme planning, challenging behaviour, training techniques with others that give them an in depth understanding of the Scouting training programme for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

In addition each Young Leader will spend at least 3 months working with one of the younger sections and take the responsibility for organising and executing 3 indoor and 3 outdoor activities

Megan Hick has been helping with Jupiter Cub Pack for the past two years with the Cub Leaders considering her to be part of the adult leadership team based on her consistent maturity in all she does. It was really good to see Megan receive her Young Leader Belt from Mandy Hawke who coordinates the award for those on Hayling Island.
