Top Award for five Lion Troop Scouts
Report Date 23/11/08
Five Scouts from Lion Troop received their Chief Scout's Gold Award from Ian Stott the District Commissioner for Havant scouts.
Michael Kenny, Joshua Haines, Stepehen Way, Joshua Hunter and Matthew Kenny, all aged 14 completed a number of challenges to complete their Gold Awards. For example when asked by Ian Stott the most memorable part of their achievement:-
- Michael and Joshua Haines said it was completing their Community Service at the Lifeboat Station on Hayling
- For Stephen Way it was helping the younger members of a Fencing Club learn the skills and balance required by the sport.
- Joshua Hunter completed the Paris to Hayling cycle ride and
- Matthew Kenny felt the Adventure Challenge which included a 15 mile 2-day hike the most challening part of his award.
This is a fantastic achievement by them all and Ian Stott and Ian Hawke thanked the Leaders and the Parents for their support over many years.
Talking of Parents, did you ever wonder how they dress when their children are presented with a top award.
As you can see some take it very seriously. From right to left we have Linda Hunter proudly looking on and Nigel & Ruth Kenny in formal evening dress!. Was this really just for the presentation?
