Abi's Explorer Belt

Report Date 11/12/08

Explorer Abi Peett is the first member of Hayling Scouts to gain the Explorer Belt.

To gain this very special award, Abi had to complete a 10 day, 100 mile expedition in another Country as part of a 3 person team. Abi, Jack (from Emsworth) and Jake (from Pubrook) were teamed together to complete the expedition in Poland during the Summer.

In addition to the 100 Miles, they also had to complete 10 challenges aimed at learning more about the culture, food, family life, youth opportunities and architecture in Poland. One of the challenges was to "carry out 4 hours of community service involving animals".

The last part of the award is to do a presentation of their expedition and the challenges to a group of Explorers, Parents, Leaders and a representative of the County Commissioner.

The presentation was brilliant and we all watched proudly as Adam Jollins, a member of the County Scout team presented Abi, Jack and Jake with their belts.
