Congratulations to Tanya Godwin who won the final draw of this years 100 Club and will be receiving her prize of £100.

Well done also to Ann Morgan who won the quarterly prize of £50 and to Michael Blosse, Cameron Simpson and Denis Doney who each win the £25 monthly draw.

Have you renewed / joined
Now is your final chance to renew or join our 100 Club in order that the first draw of the new period can be made in November. Forms are available online, in the HQ reception or direct from Ian Hawke. Remember you will have 41 chances to win a prize between £25 and £100.

Holders of top award visit Mayor's Parlour
14 members of the Group joined others from Havant District at the Civic Offices to receive a certificate from the Mayor of Havant. All 14 had received either the Chief Scout's Bronze Award (Beavers) or the Chief Scout's Silver Award (Cubs) during the past few months and this special event was to celebrate their achievement.

There is one Cub missing from the picture, which is why there are only 13 showing!!!!

Top Awards for Scott and Dan
A few days before attending the reception in the Civic Offices, Scott Hawley and Daniel Wells of Saturn Pack received their Chief Scout's Silver Awards from Nigel Vallette, the District Commissioner for Scouts. Nigel praised both Scott and Dan and also thanked the Leaders and Parents for their support in helping them achieve this milestone in their Cub Scouting.

And for Six Beavers !!
The following evening, Nigel again visited the HQ to present the Chief Scout's Bronze Award to members of Redwood Colony.

The six recipients shown with Nigel are Travis Kemp, Ben Boltwood, William Kenny, Sam Perrin, James Notley and Martyn Humphries.

Failing Memory

I realise that I had a senior moment last month when I reported on the Crockery Smashing Stall at the Carnival and failed to say thank you to all of you who donated items for breaking!! Thank You

I had also intended to include a thank you to 3 people who have taken a well deserved rest from our Executive Committee. Carolyn Wager has been involved with the Group for over 17 years mainly on the Exec as our fund raising coordinator, Lorraine Haskell has been our secretary for a number of years and has helped keep our Chairman (Philip Blosse) in check and Alan Perfett who has performed a number of roles during his 20 plus years! All three are being missed and I would like to thank all of them for their outstanding contribution to our Group. Remember if you ever get bored......

Ace win the Dreadnought Trophy

Over 150 joined in our annual quiz night and helped raise over £600 for the Group Safety and Security Project. Winners of the quiz for the 5th time were ACE with 70.5 points beating the Mad Hatters into 2nd place with 58.5 and the Racqueteers 3rd with 55.

Once again everyone praised the efforts of Mandy & Fiona in the kitchen who prepared, cooked and served the meal and then washed up with the help of some of our Explorer Scouts. Many thanks to Mandy and Fiona for organising the event and to our resident questionmaster Billy Ault and Ann & Ed Ault who acted as the markers and scorers.

Fireworks Display

We will be holding our annual fireworks display for members of the Group, members of the Hayling Division of Guides and their families. The display takes place on Friday 3rd November at Northwood Farm, Northwood Lane with an entry fee of £5 per family. Hot Dogs, Burgers, Hot & Cold drinks are also available.

New Doors Installed

As part of our Safety and Security project we have just had new Crash doors installed at the back of the HQ. Not only do they look good but they meet the changed regulations for Exit Crash Doors.

Car Seat Regulations

I hope everyone will have seen the new regulations regarding the carriage of children in a car. Anyone who is under 12 and also under 4ft 5in tall MUST have the use of a car seat to help reduce the exposure to damage caused by seatbelts. This means that whenever we organise trips we are obliged to conform to this regulation. A letter will be sent home shortly to every parent of our members who are under 12 explaining how we will ensure that we are observing the law.

Beavers & Cubs at Harvest Festival
Well done to the Beavers and Cubs who joined in with the St Andrews Church Harvest Festival Service recently.

Remembrance Day Service
Just a reminder that all Scouts and Explorers are joining with the Hayling British Legion for their annual Festival of Remembrance on November 12th.

Our Xmas Post

We will be running our Xmas Card delivery service again this year - the 25th year!

During this time we have delivered over 200,000 cards and raised over £25000 for the Group and other causes.

There will be one major difference this year. Due to Christmas falling on a Monday and other commitments we will only be doing one delivery, on Sunday 17th December and as always we would like your help. Details of how you can help will be sent out next month.
