Scouts
Aged 10 1/2 to 14

Scouts was the first section formed in the movement in 1907. They can join any age after 10 years old (normally 10 1/2 for those who come up from Cubs) and will move onto the Explorer section between the age of 14 to 15.

The Scout section is much more focussed on outdoor scouting with camps and outdoor activities taking a major part of the annual programme. The highlight of the Scout year is the summer camp, when each member gets the chance to put into practice the many skills learnt throughout the year.

Scouts are organised in Patrols and in addition to the activities a big emphasis is placed on leadership and responsibility and particularly with the Patrol Leader. Whilst the leaders continue to organise and run much of the programme, a regular meeting of the Patrol Leaders with the adult leaders ensures a strong input to the final programmes from the Scouts themselves.
