Helping Scouting on Hayling
Our Book Sale Team
Twice a year we run a book sale at the URC Church Hall in Mengham. We are always looking to add more names to the team who help sort the books beforehand and help with selling on the day.
What is the Job?
There are two roles:-
- During the half term week before the sale, we sort all of the books that have arrived and then merge them in with the existing stock. We normally do this over a period of 3 days in 2 hour sessions and our helpers will come along for one or more of the sessions.
- On the day of the sale we have a team who sell the books. In reality what they do is to take the money. The majority of our books are of a fixed price which has made it easier for all involved. The team cover a four hour period in 2 hour sessions which run from 09:00 to 11:00 and 11:00 to 13:00.
What is the Commitment?
Each sale we ask who is available and which role / time slot they can help us with. The commitment is for 2 hours of time. Some people offer to help with more than one slot or with both sort and sale, but our objective is to be able to manage the sales with just 2 hours per person.
What Skills / Experience do I need?
No experience necessary.
