Subscriptions
So now you are invested, you will need to pay subs.
How Much are Subs
Our subs are currently £66 per year payable termly (£22) or by standing order (see below).
What are Subscriptions For
The subscriptions consist of 4 main components:-
- Headquarters Capitation, that provides the insurance cover for you, resources and information for your leaders and also part costs of national campsites
- County Scout levy for County facilities such as our County Campsite in the New Forest, Leader Training and local information sheets.
- District Levy to allow our District to operate and towards the District HQ
- The Group subscription which pays for the badges you earn, equipment you use at meetings, part of the HQ running costs
Every 2 years we produce a detailed analysis of the Subscriptions which is available on request.
How do I Pay my Subs
You may pay your subs by Cash or Cheque at the beginning of each term, or by monthly Standing Order. The advantage of payment by standing order is that you do not have to remember the payment each term and currently consists of a regular payment of £5:50. Details of Standing Order are available from your leader.
Please Do not forget Gift Aid
By signing a Gift Aid declaration we are able to recover 28p for each £1 of subs (that means £18.48 for the £66 subs per year) from the inland revenue. We do not require any personal or financial information from you nor do you have to take any action, other than to sign the Gift Aid form. The only criteria is that the person paying the subscription is a Tax Payer.
You can see that with a membership of 150 Gift Aid represents a significant income for the Group.
